My core belief is that every child can, should, and will succeed. In the right environment.

I have spent the last eight years working in a variety of schools and have been very successful in teaching pupils with mild, moderate and highly complex needs. It has always seemed natural to me to develop pupils’ ability to develop resilience, grit, and drive. Enabling them to go on to accomplish success in their own right while accommodating their individuality, creativity and promoting real and authentic inclusion. 

I got into this field through my own experiences of being a parent to two children, one who has SEND and the other with a fluctuating hearing impairment. My parental experiences left me curious enough to study psychology and mental health. The English subject has always been a strength of mine, so with my parental and professional knowledge of mental health and psychology, I have been successful in knowing how to apply my practice to teaching English Language and Literature to pupils with a variety of special educational needs and disabilities. Wellbeing, English, and literacy are at the core of education at Silverways and woven into everything we do – working closely with pupils and their families to ensure they have good outcomes.

We are creating a school system that embraces pupils and celebrates their differences, teaching them how to love themselves for who they are, achieve academically and gain the skills needed to achieve emotional independence. I’m excited to join Silverways at its crucial opening stage and endeavour to ensure that all our pupils reach the pinnacle of success in their own right.
