Wings School Cumbria is a residential special school for boys and girls between the ages of 9 – 17 years. Nestled to the south of the glorious Lake District, the school works to maximise the potential of young people who have been affected by social and emotional challenges that can sometimes affect their behaviour. There is a very strong sense of community where all young people feel safe and nurtured so they can achieve their maximum potential.
The school employs a highly skilled staff team that always go the extra mile for every young person. Our therapeutic and fulfilling environment is complimented by the work of Chartered Clinical & Education Psychologists an Occupational Therapist and Speech and Language Therapist. In addition to this there is a large team of education and care staff who are committed to ensuring every young person enjoys and achieves whilst with us.
Wings School Cumbria balances a traditional curriculum with ensuring that the individual needs of each child are met. Almost all of the children and young people will take GCSEs and other formal qualifications. However, some young people compliment these qualifications with courses accessed through local colleges. Each young person who leaves Wings Cumbria does so with meaningful qualifications to ensure they take positive steps to Post-16 education. Read more about the qualifications which are available at Wings Cumbria here.
The environment has excellent academic facilities but the sporting and pastoral facilities set the school apart as the leading provider in our field. Facilities include full sized playing pitches, a state of the art gym, moto-cross & mountain bike tracks and our on-site farm with access to equestrian facilities to name but a few.
We would very much like you to come and see Wings Cumbria for yourself so please get in touch.
